PCC Preschoolers 21-22 - Early Coding: Coding without Computers

PCC Preschoolers 21-22 - Let's Explore Light: Reflections, Shadows and Colour

Playful At-Home Robotics: Make a Tech Pet! - MegaBits

NOTE: 1pm start time on Nov 13.

Bring your wild ideas to life! With a BBC Micro:bit (the  brain  and sensors) and servo motors (the  muscles ), we will give you the guidance and tools to design creative robotics projects of your own! You will become familiar with connecting physical objects to motors and coding them to react to sensory inputs through a term long project to create your own physical tech pet!

Whether you are new to coding or an experienced programmer, you will invent things that bring joy to yourself and to others. Your experienced facilitator will be there for you every step of the way to meet you where you re at. We are pros at bringing out your inner designer.

The program includes five 120 min instructor supported sessions, each with 30 minutes of interactive instruction and 90 minutes of supported creation with MakeCode, Micro:bit, motors, custom made materials and found objects. Sessions three and four will be held in smaller groups to provide more individualized support during the build. This means your choice of session three or four will be held at 1-3pm.

As a bonus, the program includes access to short video tutorials and links that demonstrate new things to try with the coding language and materials at hand, as well as recaps of important tips shared in each of the sessions.
